When You Walk Through The Water

God never promised you would not get wet. He promised you would not go under.

God never promised
to keep you
out of the water.
He promised
to be in it with you.
The river is real.
So is the hand
that holds you in it.
You will get wet.
You will not go under.

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

Isaiah 43:2 (KJV)

What does Isaiah 43:2 mean?

God tells His people that when, not if, they pass through the waters, He will be with them, and the rivers shall not overflow them. Trouble is assumed in the verse. Presence is the promise.

Does God promise to keep us out of hard things?

No. He promises to be in them with us. The water will not go over your head and the flame will not kindle upon thee. Company, not exemption, is what He offers.
