A lone figure by a window as soft warm light pours in, God is near the brokenhearted

God Is Near The Brokenhearted

God does not wait for you to pull yourself together before He comes close.

God is near the brokenhearted.
He does not stand back
from your pain.
He moves toward it.
The tears you hide
from everyone else,
He counts.
You are not hard to love
in your broken places.
He is nigh.

“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

What does Psalm 34:18 mean?

It says the LORD is nigh, close by, to them that are of a broken heart. God does not distance Himself from your pain; He draws near to it, and He saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Does God really care when my heart is broken?

Yes. The verse does not say He watches from far away. It says He is nigh, and that He saves. Your broken places do not push Him back.
